5 Steps To Achieving Your Fitness Goals.

As you well know, 2017 is officially upon is in all its glory! You’ve set your health and fitness goals, and have even created a plan of action. But now what? Implementing your plan sounds like the obvious answer, right? But if you’re like me, just “implementing” doesn’t always get you to achieving your fitness goals. Over the past couple years, I have really taken a huge interest in helping people just like me and you, set and achieve their fitness goals. Here is the 5 step proven formula for which we use:

1) Find Your Why

The first question you have to ask yourself is WHY I want to reach my goal. I.e. why do I want to lose 20lbs or tone up my body?

What is the true reason? Is it for health purposes? Do you want to be around longer for your kids/family? Or do you just finally want to see your six pack abs?!

Knowing the WHY behind your goal is probably the most important thing to help you set out on achieving them simply because if they WHY isn’t strong enough, you’ll end up losing motivation. However when your WHY is strong, it will drive and motivate you through the countless hours of work put in to achieving your fitness goal.

2) Developing The Habits

It’s easy to say, “I’m going to work out 5 days this week and eat completely healthy”. But if you’re new to that lifestyle, chances are that is easier said than done…at least for the long-term.

So how should you develop a habit? Simple, pick one of your goals and think of 1 habit you think would help you achieve that goal. I.e. If your goal is to lose 20lbs, a great habit would be to workout 3x a week. If your goal is to eat healthier, a great habit would be to make sure you have protein at each meal or to meal prep on Sundays.

The key here is in its simplicity. By focusing on who you need to become and what habits you need to adopt are an absolute key to achieving your fitness goals. But remember to start with small, doable habits.

3) Create A Routine

Now that you have your habits down, it’s absolutely crucial that you find a way to make it a routine. A habit is learned and developed over time, so creating a sustainable routine is a must. This could be as simple as scheduling your workout M/W/F at 6am or eating a healthy breakfast every morning. However you decide to do it, it’s all about creating the daily and weekly rhythm.

Once you have this routine set, you can start adding healthy habits to your goals. Before you know it, your daily routine will be full of healthy choices!

4) Tracking Your Goals

What’s the best and quickest way to achieving your goals? Track and measure! At Body Therapeutix, we have the members’ wellness portal where you can log on and track all your workouts.

If your goal is to lose 20lbs and eat a healthier diet, then track both! This is a totally doable task. Literally track every single thing that you put in your mouth and every day your workout! There is no better way to catch and change any bad habits unless you know what you’re currently doing. Do this for 1 week to see what I mean.

5) Choose Your Influences

They say you are who you hang around most. As a matter of fact, it’s said that you’re are the average of the top 5 people you are around most. Makes me think it’s time to find some rich, fit friends! But seriously, this is a big deal. If you’re constantly around people who eat unhealthy, would rather sit on the couch then workout, talk about how out of shape they are vs doing something about it, etc. what does that look like for you?

Find friends or family who have similar goals to you and use them as your accountability partner. The key is to having people around that are on the healthy and positive train. This will help you to achieving your fitness goals! And remember, you always have your trainers and friends at Body T!

To Wrap Up

These 5 steps are very simple and doable, but they only work if you actually do them. You’d be surprised how just choosing to change 1 bad habit to a good habit can have a BIG impact on your health and body. And of course as you know, consistency is absolute key. Choose your healthy habits related to your goals, develop your routine, stay consistent and I can promise you that you’ll achieve all your fitness goals.
